In 1967, approximately 400 to 500 families from the Konkani Chambhar community were residing in the Vikhroli Parksite and Anandgad area. During that period, members of the community came together and established the Konkani Chambhar Samaj in August 1967.

At that time, there was no separate community hall available for the society. Therefore, weddings, engagement ceremonies, haldi ceremonies, and other social functions were mainly organized in homes or available open spaces. Invitations for such events also had to be personally delivered by visiting one another’s homes.

With the objective of providing a place where community members could come together, exchange ideas, hold meetings, and discuss social matters, the land where the present-day Sant Rohidas Hall stands was obtained from the government. Subsequently, the premises began to be used for various social and family functions of the community.
